In the beginning of the series Zechs is a member of OZ. It is later discovered that his name is in fact Millardo Peacecraft and he is also an heir to the Peacecraft Throne. His sister is Relena, he knows this. As the series progresses, Zechs becomes confused and is not sure who his alliance is with. With that reasoning, he casts aside the mask he wears and leaves OZ. Later on he is seen as the leader of White Fang. He and Heero hold a grudge against each other and have many unfinished battles. In the end, they battle with WingZERO and Epyon. Zechs is defeated and the Earth and the colonies are safe once more.
